A Light & Airy Bedroom Refresh

You know how you make one small decision, and all of a sudden you’re changing a whole room??? It happens to the best of us! We decided to upgrade from a queen to a king bed for the first time ever. Since I was going to have to get a new bed frame, I thought I would go for a whole new, light and airy look. See the before picture on the left below, and my dreamy after on the right. And keep reading to learn more about the process and the design choices!

Our previous bed frame is a beautiful piece, but I just didn’t feel like it represented my style anymore. I really wanted to brighten up our bedroom, and the black wood frame just felt so heavy. As an alternative, I went on the hunt for a white or cream linen alternative. The Holst Bed was exactly what I was looking for, and at an EXCELLENT price point! Sold!

Once the bed arrived, Kerry (aka The Handy Hubs) got it put together for me. We unpacked our new king mattress and got it set up. Lucky for us, Josie Mae approved (haha). With the bed in place, I realized my previous black chandelier was no longer going to work. It created too much contrast with my new bed frame, so I found this gorgeous wagon wheel chandelier to use instead.

And now it was time to refresh the actual bedding. I already used pretty light colored bedding, but I really wanted to simplify the whole look. I decided to use white or cream for the sheets, quilt, and throw. For a little variation, I added some textured throw pillows and a faux fur throw.

The final look is the light and airy space I dreamed about! If you’re feeling inspired, you can shop some of the products from this post below.
