6 Features to Finish Your Basement with Style

I loved working with my client Katie to help her build a home for her family, so when she invited me back to finish the basement, I was so excited to work with her again! She has four young boys, so this space needed to be the ULTIMATE hangout for her sons and all their friends — but we needed to make sure and get some features in there for the parents too! Keep reading for the six features we integrated to finish her basement with style (and function!).

Bar & Kitchenette

This bar and kitchenette has the vibe of a sports bar with open shelving for memorabilia and a flat screen TV to play the big game. The island has plenty of seating and includes a hidden beverage fridge.

Built-in Booth

This is one of my favorite features, and I am so excited that we were able to make it work. We added the windows to bring in more natural light and framed it out with the rustic beams to make it more cohesive with the bar and kitchenette.

Movie Theater

With plenty of seating, my client’s kids and their friends can enjoy a private screening of their favorite movies in this custom theater. The room has dimmable theater lighting, a ceiling mounted projector, and — of course — luxury recliners.

Concessions

What is a movie theater without a concession stand? We had a little bit of space in the hallway leading the theater, and I just knew a concession stand would be the perfect accent. This photo also shows off the custom french doors leading into the movie theater.

Cozy Seating

Cozy seating is a staple in any finished basement. This oversized sectional has enough room for the whole family to cozy up for a game night or just to spend some quality time together.

Wine Bar

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, you have to make sure to create some space for the parents! This wine bar is a great place to unwind and enjoy sampling wine with your spouse or some girlfriends. Cheers!
