Photo Essay: Building Our Outdoor Living Room

It’s no secret that our outdoor spaces are my absolute favorite places to spend time! Whether it is with friends or family and whether we are celebrating a major occasion or just enjoying time at home, we have created our own little oasis. It is the absolute perfect place to retreat and relax. And it all started with our outdoor living room!

Our outdoor living room was a vision that I had for my dream outdoor space, and it could not have turned out more perfectly. In the following photo essay, the images alternate between photos taken just last week and photos taken when we started the project. I hope you find some inspiration in them. Enjoy!

NOW: I wanted to make sure the outdoor living room had plenty of seating so we could enjoy it with family and friends.

THEN: I am grateful that Kerry lives up to his title as “The Handy Hubs” and that he has an incredible crew to help bring my visions to life!

NOW: We added some simple landscaping to frame the side of the living room that faces the yard.

THEN: This photo was taken as the crew finished installing the ceiling trusses.

Now: The outdoor living room features a vaulted ceiling inset with full length wood planks.

THEN: With the structure complete, it was time to add my unique design perspective to really bring the space to life.

NOW: While I’ve changed out some small decorative accents, I absolutely love how the space came together!
