A Boho Chic Teen Bathroom Remodel

This post is part of our “Your Space by Style & Grace” series, which showcases my solutions to your design problems.

In our home, I have remodeled almost every single space, but one room that hadn’t gotten any love was my daughter Paige’s bathroom. She is a high school senior this year, and has come into her own design style really inspired by boho chic trends. Her bedroom features that style, so we decided to overhaul her bathroom with it as well!

To make this vision come to life, there was quite a lot of change that had to happen. First, we replaced the more classic/traditional tile with hardwood floors for a clean, natural look. We added the dark shiplap for a bold statement, and to create some visual contrast, replaced the vanity with this boho-style freestanding option—The etched medallions on the doors are just beautiful! Paige chose most of the decorative accents and was loving the brass/gold finish, so of course we had to go with brass fixtures for the sink!

The demo didn’t stop with the vanity area! In order to keep the look consistent, we also removed the existing shower tile and replaced it with an elongated subway tile. The dark contrast grout echoes the contrast we established in the vanity area. We also replaced the shower fixture to match the clean aesthetic and brass fixtures from the sink. The eucalyptus bouquet on the showerhead was Paige’s idea, and I love how it accentuates the natural/boho feel. It also smells amazing!

As I mentioned before, Paige picked out all the decorative accents for the room—gold elephant, gold snake, gold hexagon shelves... you think she likes gold??? She even did a little bit of DIY! On the shelf in the first picture below, she took some old mason jars and painted them black for a more modern look. The record wall in the last picture was all her as well! She picked out the records herself and put them up. It was so fun to collaborate with her on making this space exactly what she wanted!
