Hey Everyone! For those of you who haven't seen or heard me me talking up a fun project I'm involved in. LET ME FILL YOU IN!
I was recently asked by some pretty awesome people to be a guest designer on this season of ShowMe Renovation. Of course I immediately said YES! I had watched the show last season and thought it was such a fun project! All of the designers are super talented and easy to relate to! Who wouldn't want to be part of a cast like that?
Meet the cast!
From the top left: Brad Antisdel, Kim Antisdel, Jennifer Bertrand, Dustin Bates, Donald Jonas, Deb Volger, Erin Shipps and Sebastian De Geer.
Right off the bat, they made me feel like family. It is a little scary to jump into something that you have NEVER done before and feel comfortable doing it ON CAMERA! It is a wild feeling to have that camera in front of you recording everything you are saying and hoping that you look cool while doing so! Insert Sebastian DeGeer (the production guru). If you are feeling awkward or uncomfortable in any way, he is the guy to calm your nerves! Put these two gems together and you have a one-of-a-kind, genuine feeling of comfort and peace while you hurdle yourself into the unknown that is reality TV!
I was assigned a bedroom and I instantly felt like it should be a kid's space. It was small and quaint and in the front of the home with the most perfect view of a magnolia tree (one of my faves). For some reason, that made me want to style it like a little girl's room. I headed off to Target, where I am famous for spending at least $50-$100 at the drop of a hat, so I figured it would be easy to find a jumping off point for this room. The first thing I came across was a whimsical flamingo bedding set.
I know, I know. FLAMINGOS? Totally out of the box for me and most unexpected, but they were adorable and fun. I felt like this room needed a slight punch and this could send me that direction in a subtle way! Anyway, fast forward to finding a fabulous blue pillow and the perfect salmon colored comforter and poof! you have the start to a dreamy girl's room fit for a princess! I will spare you all the details of each piece selected but I will tell you that I had a ton of fun pulling this room together!
If you are still reading, the end of the story is, this was fun. A TON OF FUN. I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved with such fabulous people. They made it exciting and isn't that the way life should be?
Surround yourself with with a blanket of dreams...and maybe, just maybe, they become a REALITY.
